Former Benfica defender Ezequiel Garay looking to reach his 3rd straight Europa League final, with his new team FC Zenit Saint Petersburg.
The Argentina defender who bought by Zenit this season with a transfer fees of 6.00 million, aims to play his 3rd consicutive Europa League final this year with Zenit.
He appeared in last two finals of UEFA Europa Leage with Benfica, However, he never got the chance to lift the trophy. He was also the member of Argentina World Cup squad, who were runner-ups in Brazil losing to Germany in the final.
“Unfortunately we lost the final, so the things you enjoyed and felt before [that match] are gone, especially playing in Brazil and at the Maracanã. But that was my nicest memory” he said after the final.
Garay wants to get his team to their second Europa League final this season. Zenit played their last final 7 years ago in 2008 and also won the title with a 2-0 win over Rangers F.C.
Meanwhile Manchester United also targeting Garay to join the club from Benfica. Red Devils boss, van Gaal made an offer of 18.5m to land the explosive center back to Old Trafford.
